The NBA announced Tuesday that the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks will play two preseason games in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in October.
The events will be held at Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on October 6 and 8. These will be the first NBA games ever held in the United Arab Emirates.
In November, the league revealed plans to hold games in Abu Dhabi. It also planned to include fan events with current and former NBA players, youth basketball resources such as NBA FIT Clinics and Jr. NBA Leagues, and an NBA 2K League exhibition game.
Since 1984, there have been 76 NBA preseason games held outside of North America, the most recent of which took place in China in 2019 between the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2020, the Bucks and Charlotte Hornets will play a regular-season game in Paris.
