English Premier League (EPL) Results and upcoming fixtures

The weekend is here again with a ton of Soccer games happening across the globe. In the English Premier League, the 34th round of matches were played on Saturday with the rest to be played on Sunday, 25th April, 2022.

Here is a recap of all matches played on Saturday, April 24.

Arsenal 3 – Manchester United 1

Arsenal won an exciting encounter at the Emirates Stadium, putting them in a strong position to finish in the top four ahead of Manchester United. After just three minutes of play, Travares put them up, then Saka added a second goal from the penalty spot to make it 2-0. Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back just before halftime, putting the score 2-1.

United fought back valiantly in the second half. After Matic was fouled, Bruno Fernandes had a chance to tie the game from the penalty spot, but he hit the woodwork. Ramsdale then made a fantastic stop at the near post to deny Diogo Dalot a goal. United’s squandered chances came back to bother them later, as Xhaka made it 3-1 for Arsenal in the 70th minute with a fantastic shot from outside the box, sealing the victory.

Manchester City 5 – Watford 1

Manchester City cemented their position at the top of the table with an emphatic 5-1win over relegation-bound Watford. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring just four minutes into the game before doubling their lead in the 23rd minute when he nodded home a cross from Kevin De Bruyne. Hassane Kamara pulled one back for the visitors in the 28th minute and threatened a comeback, but their threat was short lived when Rodri fired in strike from 25 yards to make it 3-1.

In the second half, City dominated the game and Jesus got his hat-trick in the 49th minute from the penalty spot. He got his fourth in the 53rd minute with a calm strike from a selfless assist from De Bruyne.

Brentford 0 – Tottemhan 0

Tottenham’s hope of securing a top-four finish took a blow after they drew goaless with Burnley. The draw marks a second consecutive game in which Tottenham didn’t manage a shot on target.

The draw leaves them two points behind fourth placed Arsenal.

Upcoming fixtures for Sunday, April 24, 2022

Chelsea will look to cement their position in third place when they host 7th placed West Ham United at Stamford Bridge Sunday afternoon.

Elsewhere, Liverpool will also look to put pressure on leaders Man City when they host Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby.
