Will Smith was photographed laughing and posing for selfies at a Mumbai airport on April 23, 2022 his first public appearance since slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards last month.
The Bad Boys for Life star, 53, was photographed with fans at a private airstrip in Mumbai, India, on April 23. Will makes his first public appearance since infamously slapping comedian Chris Rock, 57, live on TV during the 2022 Academy Awards in March.
While the reason for Will’s visit to India is unknown, he appeared to be in good spirits as he grinned and waved to supporters. Will wore a white t-shirt, gray shorts, white tights, and a pair of sneakers, all of which looked equally cool and comfortable.
Will made news on March 27 when he punched Chris in the face after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her haircut at the time.
The actor later resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and issued a public apology to Chris on Instagram. He later won the award for Best Actor.
He penned, “I was both out of line and incorrect. I’m embarrassed, and my actions do not reflect the guy I aspire to be. Violence has no place in a world of love and peace.”
Will was barred from attending any Academy events, including the Oscars, for the next ten years as a result of his act.
Will isn’t the only one trying to put the incident behind him. Chris has subsequently gone on his own comedy tour, telling audiences that he “hasn’t even had time to digest” the incident, much less “spoken to anyone about it, despite what you may have heard.”
Jada made her first public appearance earlier this month when celebrating the opening of the Rhimes Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, after calling for a “season of healing” last month.
However, Jada seemed to imply in the opening cards of the most recent episode of Red Table Talk that her family may opt to return the topic on the show in the future.
“Some of the revelations around our healing will be shared at the table when the time comes,” the statement added after stating that the family has been “focused on profound healing” since the altercation.
